The end of April saw the Longboard Girls Crew celebrate 100k (a formidable number of!) Facebook likes, in Madrid.
I was wowed by the organisation behind this group, they work incredibly hard promoting skateboarding to girls (and guys alike).
What follows are a few photos from the extensive list of events organised for the weekend. Once again Mark and I had to face unseasonably shizzy weather in Spain, but this did nothing to dampen the fun we had. Big thanks to Rayne Longboards, Alvaro for his kind hospitality and Monica, Sonso, Kati, Helio, Javier and so many other lovely people whose names I’ve lost.

What an edifice! Plaza del Espanol.

You might know him from a notorious fail video, all-round nice guy. He took the following two pictures. Thanks Helio!

Above and below: ‘I want your hat’. Bro rips, what’s his name?

Madrid brooding from the outskirts.

Thanks Spain, I hope my return is soon.

FalBRC held a bike race last week. Many bicycles on show and only one ambulance was required in the end, super fun evening.

Master of ceremonies

The REAL winner.

Had it well covered.

Mark Short demonstrates the new Rayne Ra(d)ft.

Made from vertically laminated bamboo, fibreglass, carbon fibre and several foam cores for a stiff, light construction, the Radft weighs in at the equivalent of 17 skateboards. With 34 trucks it excels over short distances in a straightish line however the supreme weight and lack of manoeuvrability means it is less predictable over longer runs. Be sure to have a wall or other immovable obstacle ready to help you stop.
Parts sold separately (or not at all anymore).
Erm.
